EXPATS · PROACTIVE & PREVENTATIVE
Before it becomes a crisis.
────────────────────────────────────────
Not every conversation begins in a crisis.
Sometimes it begins with a question. Whether the assignment is the right decision — for both of you. Whether the relationship can carry it. What happens when one partner is excited and the other is hesitant.
Or it begins shortly after arrival: when everything is new, the routines are gone and the couple realises they need more than a language course.
Whether you are still weighing the decision — or have just arrived and sense that it is harder than expected: a conversation can help you find orientation. Before patterns take hold that are harder to shift.
────────────────────────────────────────
"I am looking forward to the assignment — but my partner is not really on board."
"We said yes. But I am not sure what that actually means for us as a couple."
"We are here now. And I realise I don't know how to begin."
"Everything is new. We have lost our structure — and we feel that as a couple too."
"I don't want to wait until it escalates."
────────────────────────────────────────
Seeking support before a crisis is not a sign that something is wrong — it is a form of care. It means taking space early to clarify together what you need, how you want to shape the assignment as a couple, and what can help when things get difficult.
A conversation does not need to provide answers straight away. But it can help to understand connections more clearly and discover new room to act.

The accompanying partner
Relocations are rarely equal for both partners. One arrives with a clear professional brief. The other rebuilds a life from scratch — often without a network, without familiar structures, sometimes without a clear role.
Large organisations invest in the person they relocate. The accompanying partner often receives a language course — and little else.
This is exactly where I come in.
